This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does an okay job on hard floors and carpets with a low pile. Its combination brush gets into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in the middle of the pile carpet. The IQ has a small footprint and also a self-emptying function. If you wish to alter the floor level or set no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved but it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots that we tested.
The IQ is a more suitable choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery life and is better at navigating obstacles. It also comes with a mopping attachment that can handle sticky messes. On the other side, the iRobot is built better and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and can even create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It is able to even resume the cleaning process from the point it started if it is unable to recharge its battery prior to finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice commands, which is a huge benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market but it does provide great cleaning power for a low price. It's designed for those who don't require a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot is capable of running for a long time and comes with a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim, sleek, and features a tempered-glass upper deck that resembles the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice change from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
The eufy11S did well in our tests to remove larger debris and fine dust from flooring. It struggled to deep clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. It is also prone to hit furniture and people that are in its path however, it's able detect obstacles with sensors. If it encounters them it stops and lets out an alarm so that you can manually guide it around the obstacle and get it back to work.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the level of dirt. The remote control makes it simple to guide the 11S to the desired area.
If you don't have a lot of furniture in the space where you'd like to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
